VoteyWotey is a workshop tool for capturing one idea per person and voting on them as a group. This page says exactly what it stores and why. There is no advertising, no profiling, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
If you join a session
You don't create an account and there is no password. We store:
- the display name you type when you join;
- the idea and any comments you write;
- which ideas you voted for.
Your device holds a random token so it can prove it's the same person when it comes back. Only a SHA-256 hash of that token is stored on the server, so the database cannot be used to impersonate you.
If you run a session
Facilitators sign in with Google. Sign-in happens on Google's own page — we never see your Google password. Google tells us your account identifier, email address, name and profile picture URL, and we store those so you can get back to your sessions and so an administrator can approve your account. Your sign-in is a cookie holding a random token; again, only its hash is stored on the server.
Cookies
One cookie, vw_session, and only after you sign in as a
facilitator. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax and Secure, and it exists purely to
keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Where it lives, and for how long
The site runs on Cloudflare Workers with the database in Cloudflare's Oceania region. Cloudflare provides hosting, DNS and cookieless traffic analytics. Session content stays until the person who ran the session deletes it; sign-in sessions expire after 30 days.
Your choices
Ask whoever ran your session to remove you and everything you wrote — the facilitator console can do that, and it deletes your idea, comments and votes. Facilitators can ask an administrator to delete their account.
